top 5 neocities websites

neocities is an open source project dedicated to bringing back the old internet (like bringing back the simplicity of websites instead of having to use twitter-like social medias) and also powering 80% of the indie web. of course, there are some neocities websites that can be the best at information, archivals or basically anything that i, myself, like.

let’s start with the best, shall we?

#1 Frutiger Aero Archive

this is the top archival website (aside from the internet archive) for basically anything in the style of Frutiger Aero/Web2.0 gloss. it has wallpapers, music, resources, icons, a webring, an entire community and even its own mascot called Archive-Tan! it’s truly the best community out there.

#2 MelonKing/Melonland

as far as i can say, this is the website with the most content on neocities. it has everything decorated all at once, with sound effects, 90s gifs, etc. for some reason, it feels like a fever dream going in these pages. and even the index feels like a fever dream! look at the duplicating logo here!

#3 Knoxstation

this is also like the Melonland website but except for the 90s, it’s the 2010s again. it has a full frutiger aero style (which i love) and i even have her button on my site! sadly, it doesn’t have sound effects that could spice up the website even more. it’s still one of the best decorated tho!

#4 bielzin’s space

this guy is actually my first follower! and also my next door neighbor (he’s from brazil and im from argentina) (sorry for loving this design so much i yoinked it :3) not only does his website or space look very nice by its own, there’s also a GAMES section using ruffle.rs! i’ve had a lot of fun playing these games in bielzin's space! sadly, it doesn’t support mobile resolutions like every other neocities website.

#5 melankorin

this one is kinda a little bit of art, archival/resources, much like the Frutiger Aero Archive except, there’s no frutiger aero. but, the art is very nice and also the buttons are actually very good on their own!

the argentine webring

i am from Argentina, with an interest in the old web like neocities and i would like to own a webring. so, i thought to myself, what if i combined my nationality with my interest of owning a webring? and thus, the argentine webring was born!

rules:

1. you must be an argentine web developer with access to a web-hoster like neocities/nekoweb.
2. no email address for this one. you must use my neocities profile/guestbook to apply for the webring.
3. you must have the webring in one of your pages. most commonly, the homepage or the links page (if you have one)
4. extra rule: build an index/home page first before applying for the webring. you can literally just put the webring there and your name in the page and i wont care.
